Update to USA Softball of Maine
I want to start by apologizing for the delay in updating the Maine website, things have been crazy with the multi sports event that I host.
Next I want to take this opportunity to THANK all of you, (coaches, parents, PLAYERS, UMPIRES, directors, loyal softball fans) for all the effort that was put into summer softball in 2020. I understand a lot of you had to adjust to the new rules that I made and were a little upset but,What a great team effort from all to accomplish what we did for all Maine Female Softball Players during the Covid 19 Pandemic. I for one am really amazed at what we were able to provide for the girls during the summer and fall. My events for 7 weeks resulted in 692 games being played here in Central Maine. I am not sure how we were able to do it but we hosted the largest USA State Championships EVER!!!! (73 teams total in 3 days) with no Covid issues and great weather. The Southern Maine area also was able to conduct a large schedule for teams to participate. So to all a Huge THANK YOU…
Today I will be starting to post events to the websites for 2021, I have been waiting for answers to field use in all the usual areas that I have and most are waiting to see what happens in early 2021 before allowing use of facilities. With that said I will post events that may change once we get closer to spring.
Right now I will make these events available to all teams throughout New England and Canada, but warn all that with the COVID 19 stuff getting way out of control this may change back to Maine only events. Those that are hosting events I will make the decisions as soon as I feel safe to do so.
If you have received payment from a out of state team and we need to change rules again, please refund the team the complete entry fee..
2021 Maine State Championships will be held back in Central Maine, tournament form has been on the website.
2021 USA Softball HPP program is in the works for 13u, 14u, 15u, 16u, 17u and 18u teams. I am in the process of working with our 3 state USA committee to select the best coaches we can find for each age level. Working with my counterparts in New Hampshire and Vermont we are looking to establish the Coaches for each team by December 30, 2020 and I will put forth tryout info once we have this completed. We will be holding tryouts for each level at a facility in New Hampshire to make it easy for the players from the 3 states to travel to one location. More information will be coming soon.
Team & Player registrations for 2021 will now change, currently we have used January 1 to December 31 to register, but at the request of many you will be able to register in September 2021 for 2022 season. So for this year you may have to double register to get this started. I will provide more info soon.
Last but not least I want to take this opportunity to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Please, Please, Please stay safe and healthy, follow guidelines and we will all try to make 2021 a FANTASTIC year for everyone.
STAY WELL BE SAFE!!!!!
